Share Market News Today | Sensex, Nifty, Share Prices Highlights: The benchmark equity indices closed in positive territory. The NSE Nifty 50 closed 81.55 points or 0.37% higher to settle at 22,122.25, while the BSE Sensex gained 281.52 points or 0.39% to settle at 72,708.16. The NSE Nifty 50 closed 0.35% higher at 22,118.25, while the BSE Sensex closed 0.37% higher at 72,697.90.
Shares of Coal India fell 4.7% to Rs 457.65 after the company’s management said that it won’t be able to meet the production target of the current financial year by 10 MT. The stock was the key loser in the Nifty 50.
Grasim Industries, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Auto, ICICI Bank, and Bajaj Finance were the top gainers in the Nifty 50. Meanwhile L&T, SBI Life Insurance, LTIMindtree, HDFC Life, and Wipro were the key laggards in the Nifty 50.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the commencement of the construction of a 300 MW solar power plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The NSE Nifty 50 hits an intraday record high at 22,150.75.
The NSE Nifty rose to the intraday high of 22,120.65. In the last 52 weeks, the index has risen to an all-time high of 22,126.80.
“Nifty weekly contract has highest open interest at 23000 for Calls and 21000 for Puts while monthly contracts have highest open interest at 23000 for Calls and 21000 for Puts. Highest new OI addition was seen at 22100 for Calls and 22000 for Puts in weekly and at 22000 for Calls and 22000 for Puts in monthly contracts. FIIs increased their future index long position holdings by 10.36%, increased future index shorts by 2.32% and in index options by 20.46% in Call longs, 32.87% in Call short, 32.13% in Put longs and 39.92% in Put shorts,” said Anand James, Chief Market Strategist, Geojit Financial Services.
WTI Cabs shares were listed at a premium of 32.6% at Rs 195 in the SME category. The company’s stocks were listed in the NSE SME category on February 19.
Shares of One97 Communication, the parent firm of Paytm, rose 5% to hit the upper circuit of Rs 358.35 after the company got a deadline extension of March 15 from the RBI.
Adani Enterprises, Bajaj Auto, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Coal India, and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers in the Nifty 50. While Wipro, TCS, LTIMindtree, L&T, and Tech Mahindra were the key laggards in the Nifty 50 today.
“The bulls maintained their dominance, leading to positive momentum throughout the day. Despite facing minor rejections at the immediate hurdle of 46700, the overall undertone remains bullish. Any dips are seen as buying opportunities, especially with strong support identified in the 46000-45800 zone. The index, once it surpasses the hurdle of 46700 on a closing basis, is anticipated to open up further room for an upward move towards the 48000 mark,” said Kunal Shah, Senior Technical & Derivative Analyst at LKP Securities.
